Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star

And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar,

When I put out to sea.

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

Too full for sound and foam

When that which drew from out the boundless deep

Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,

And after that the dark

And may there be no sadness of farewell

When I embark.

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place,

The flood may bear me far;

I hope to see my Pilot face to face

When I have crost the bar.

Alfred Tennyson

James (Jiggsy) Donahue

James (Jiggsy) Donahue/W1MPC RMC USCG (Ret), the official Ancient Communicator of the Coast Guard CW Operators Association  passed away at about 1510 local Saturday 31 July 2004 at Cape Cod Hospital.

Those of us who had a close relationship with Jiggsy in both our personal lives and in Amateur Radio are left with a sorrow that is hard to express in words.  He certainly touched us in many ways.  His departure has left us with a lump in our throats and tears that are hard to hide.  Jiggsy was responsible for a lot of us being in Amateur Radio today.   It's hoped that he will have fair winds and a following sea on his final patrol.
